My Sport Poem by Belle Wassermeister

My Sport

Rating: 5.0

I was born in the city of
Gooseberry Bay, Pennsylvania
in April,1930
so I am a few weeks
older than Wes Vogler,
and you didn't think
there could be anyone
older than that jolly
little elf.

When I was nine years old,
I convinced the city to start
the very first Little League
Baseball organization.

We had three teams in the league.
Since my name is William,
they called it William's Sport,
and the league was such a success
that soon they changed the name
of the town to honor me: Williamsport.

At one time, the city of Williamsport
had more millionaires per capita
than any other place in the world,
so the local high school chose
'Millionaires' as their mascot.
Therefore, for a few years while
I attended there, I was a Millionaire.

Never have I actually had
very much money, and never got
a penny from starting the Little League
but money isn't everything,
and ever since I discovered
Poem Hunter, I'm as happy as a clam.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
At the time I wrote this, I was using the name William Winkee, or Wee Willie Winkee. I am so good at manipulating the truth, I should become a politician!

an informative piece however as you claim to be a manipulator of the truth, where do I start? Are you in actuality 89? If so I congratulate you on your endurance. As there was no rhyming I would presume you call this free verse. If Williamsport was named after you I salute you. Don't know what to think at this point. Lemme know more

I'm sorry, I didn't see that. I was blinded by my tears at Oregon's loss.

You've got more lives than a cat and more colors than a Chameleon. That's okay, that's imagination's, democratic hat. But I don't think you hit a home run, regardless of your Little League, experience, when as a truth manipulator you placed Mr. Trump, I think that slot is much better filled by the newly elected democrat congress who has done nothing except derange, disturb, and lie about what ever good has been put into place.
