Great poem! Feel the same way about sadness, behind it is the joy before the loss. It's bittersweet loneliness of grief, still contains the beauty of the moments in the past, the images of memories treasured always by the heart. you make Lora sadness seem a sweet thing and not at all detestable! life becomes much easier to deal with that way.
Lora, let me share some of the lines from Coleridge which i like for the double-rhyme for that style i have found in yours, The guests are met, the feast is set.../ The ship was cheered, the harbour cleared.../ At length did cross, an albatross.../ etc, etc.... your lines, esp. the 3rd one gave the same music and the feel...so nice read here, i enjoyed it!
I don't believe that anyone with such a quirky sense of humour could be sad for too long. The words positively exude a tongue in cheek laughter.
