My Rock Poem by Caroline Bulleck

My Rock

You were once my rock in the river
Not letting me slip away and drown
Now in the ocean, you're my anchor

You have stopped being my life saver
Not letting go, you're pulling me down
You were once my rock in the river

I was glad your strength didn't waver
Thought, not moving made me safe and sound
Now in the ocean, you're my anchor

Fighting the flow did me no favor
As my thoughts only revolved around
You were once my rock in the river

But it's time for me to be braver,
Let you go with the knowledge I've found
Now in the ocean, you're my anchor

The wisdom, bitter sweet in flavor
Freed me to swim, with this truth, to firm ground
You were once my rock in the river
Now in the ocean, you're my anchor
