My Prayer Poem by Kolawole Emmanuel

My Prayer

MY PRAYER

I work so hard to be someone,
Someone rich and well known,

I try my best all night and day,
I throw my lucks and also pray,

Hoping to stand firm and erect,
'But it seems all effort waste'

I try to love and also be loved,
'As the trees behold the wind'

I kept all my personal need,
And set apart all my pride,

Hoping that bliss'ill come an' stay,
'But it stand so far away'

I rushed everywhere down and up
With a strong heart full of hope,

I pray that he the all most high,
'will consider my silent cry'

And bring out help from nowhere,
Beyond my thought the one most rear,

That i may wipe off my tears,
And at last change my mourning wears,
