My passion is to write
A gift I didn’t know was inside of me
Until I desired to give someone something special

Hi Diedre - I am honoured to be the first to vote. I like poems about POETRY they have a special magic. Your poem has good structure - fourteen balanced quatrains - and a consistent rhyming pattern x a x a - x b x b etc. I have to careful with my appraisal because Diedre claims (correctly) that her POETIC GIFT is endowed by GOD. Verses One to Five elegantly describe the discovery and implementation of Diedre's inner 'Gift of Poetry'. Verse Six is interesting because we all have a range of hobbies and pastimes but (normally) only one PASSION in my case it is also POETRY. Verse Four indicates that if you do have the POETIC GIFT (Passion) the words do FLOW - that is also my experience. Non-poets find this aspect difficult to comprehend. Verses Seven - Eight - Nine exemplify this claim. Verses Ten & Eleven - Remind us of two important principles: Firstly - GOD is the source of all human TALENTS in music - literature - art - science - technology - philosophy etc. Secondly - God gives every Human Being at least ONE TALENT (Gift) which needs to be recognised and encouraged. I am a Qualified Teacher and this is the raison d'etre of my profession. Verses Twelve & Thirteen are powerful in that they use JESUS CHRIST as an example of someone who had a unique GIFT (Mission) in the exercise of which He Redeemed the whole Human Race - AWESOME. I love the POSITIVITY of Verse Fourteen and would commend it as a Mission Statement to every member of the Beautiful PH Family. 'As for me - I will write until I cannot write any longer - There is no such thing as having nothing to say - Beacuse this GIFT has been inside me since before i was born - I am headed for my destiny and MY PASSION will take me all the way'. I rest my case. Love you in Poetry - JOHN.
