I was carried to the time when I was a child and when we lost a pet the whole family made a ceremony of it, sincere tears, the service in the garden; we learned early to value life and to treat life with respect, no matter whose it is and what form it takes. Beautifully written GW62.

Most of us have laid to rest a beloved furry friend. So difficult to do and you put it very well. I love your rhyming style. Best Wishes, Marilyn

What a moving poem. Sorry for the loss of your old friend. I know animals always have had a special place in my heart and I can see that your old friend had a special place in your heart, too. Beautiful. Sincerely, Connie Webb

Awhile back I inquired with several people if they remembered a great lament for man's best friend. I looked for some time and read some fair pieces but never the one I had originally read on the post pages. I am elated to have found this work of yours, again, and for good reason. Shortly after I read it for the first time, my own dog has passed on, and I have not been able to muster up a poem of my own to reflect my feelings over the loss. Yours is all that is needed. So thanks, GW! -Tailor

The feeelings, sentiment and at the end the tragedy, slowly and steadily captivate the reader. The style is impeccable.

This is just wonderfully written. It shows all the feelings and thoughts of a old friend. It's very sad that we all have to let something we all love go sometime.

This really is so tender, and I feel you first have to be a pet owner and who has gone through this in order to toally understand, and feel the sad emotions here. It has been many years for me, and still as now, reading something written as tender as this, makes tears come to my eyes... So sorry for your loss... Bonnie
