My Never Quitting Zeal Poem by Adams King

My Never Quitting Zeal

Drenched in the mud of filth
dragged humiliated and humbled
like a bamboo bent till I'm broken
Criticized oppressed and gossipped
mocked by my desires and needs
The echoing laughter of my dreams
torments my midnight sleep
Beaten battered and bruised
yet my head lifted high unbowed
In the midst of hopelessness
I dragged my bleeding heart along
with drops of tears for every trouble
Like a sluggish tortoise, slowly
I bare my heavy shells of sorrow
All odds may turn against me
but not my never quitting zeal
