Once I met
A fair pretty maiden
As lonely as I
And though she grew to be a woman
in my heart
She will always be
My love at first sight
Once I asked her to
Come sit by my side
And we did sing
Till evening
Turned to night
Darling oh my darling
There is tragedy in life
And the stars hold witness
To both of our lives
And
When the night is silent
And I hold to your sight
And I lie in my bed
For death to come by
The angels above
Do shiver and cry
