On a chilly, desolate winter night
When cold blasts sweep past me
How I long for a warm resting place
As the nestlings have beneath their mother’s wings
Till the Sun from the East triumphantly springs
Lighting the day and heating the air
O n the forking paths, solitary as I stand
Unable to decide which path I should take
How I wish a guide could come my way
To tell me which leads to which and what I should do
And aid me opt for the better of the two
That never shall I bemoan my choice thereon
When violent gales shake and rock the sea
And waters rise to heavens high
How I long to be aboard a sturdy ship
With a captain steering his vessel without a slip
Till we alight a harbour to resume our trip
After the storm is calmed and the waves subside!
If by mischance, cast on a dreary coast
Cut off from life’s accustomed haunts
Surrounded by sights breeding monstrous fears
With no means to reach back the familiar lands
Send me from High Heavens the grace to bear
Every trial with resilience, without losing hope!
Beautiful voyage on wintery night with water rise to the heavens high, But with a strong captain....steering his vessel without a slip..It's true fears are our monsters, they kill us and make us loose our hope. Conclusion with God Blessings! ! ! Beautiful poem. Loved it Valsa.
A very poignant write. There is always a light shining from the Lighttower to aid the lost seafarer. When the going gets dark and dreary and things seems to hard to bear the help will come. Cast out your net and pull in the many blessings that God has for you. A superb write!
A poem that is capable of transporting one to many a phase of the mystery of life a tale of its own. Anyways, your optimistic note here is about life and it works like an oar on the boat that sways often. A sure 10 is given to this poem.

Beautifully penned, fine imagery, and all sensitivity and gracious touch of spirituality! The second stanza also reminds me, to some extent, of Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken. Have a very happy New Year, dear Valsa!
An excellent write full of hope and very beautiful lines at the conclusion. Loved and enjoyed reading it.
