I'd give my kingdom for you if it would engage one more lover's sigh on our journal's page Or one more night with you it would presage. . In the meantime I lie here alight at midnight, my heart and my eyes waiting ever bright......so touching and impressive. Nice theme. Beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing.

The poem gives me a distnct feeling of a by-gone era... 'I received a beautiful love-note bouquet and now my heart is having itself a soiree. You promised we'll be together some lovely day and embrace on a flower-strewn pathway.' And of course the..'solitary candlelight' The earnest hope and fragile tenderness of a hopeful heart that emerges from these words is saddening. When one knows that one is truly loved the heart sings and there is no middle maybe road.10++++

Oh! You got it! I tried but thought I'd failed to get that fragile and maybe doomed hope across- -thank you for the deep read, Simone and the 10! ! !

A nice poem on an immense love having heartfelt depiction. Waiting of lover's or beloved's soiree is much emotional and painful. It may be quoted... I received a beautiful love-note bouquet and now my heart is having itself a soiree. You promised we'll be together some lovely day and embrace on a flower-strewn pathway. Dear Susan madam, you have inscribed this poem in such a metaphorical way that it attracts the eyes and minds of readers... let me quote here... I bathe my lonely heart in the solitary candlelight but I lie here in hope that I'll whisper goodnight and embrace you, my love, in tomorrow's moonlight. Brilliant poem shared. Thanks a lot.

There were parts of this poem that I liked- -that gave the sense of the waiting and the believing- -but I still think it needs work. Thank you so much for your serious contemplation of this piece.

Pleasant flow of thought embellished in poetic rhyme and rhythm. Awesomely flawless poem, lovely, and very passionate. You're one of the poets in the forum with great writing style. I doff my hat for you Susan. Thanks for sharing and do remain blessed.

Thank you for your warm support, Chinedu [a very lovely sounding name by the way ]. I worked hard on flossing its rhymes and rhythm, typically my rhyming seemed stiff to me so I worked this poem over and over. Bless you for reading and commenting and encouraging!

So I gladly lay my head on silken pillow tonight To think of you and I under a star - sprinkled night. Nicely expressed poem of love Buried in the musical flow Of rhyme and rhythm Well done! Sylva

Hi Susan, Had to return to this....I read this poem a few times these past few days. At last, I just realized how much the first line in the 4th stanza reminds me of Richard iii and how much that last line in the same stanza reminds me of Romeo and Juliet. A great poem.

The pain and sufferings eased the moment the speaker gets lover's promise of togetherness and she is full of dreams- - - - - A beautiful poem Susan Williams - - - - - The heartache and dreams so nicely painted.- -To quote a few lines from the lovely poem- - but I lie here in hope that I'll whisper goodnight and embrace you, my love, in tomorrow's moonlight. . In the morning I shall rise and watch for you coming to me amid the song of mourning dove coo. Oh, don't you know I could never wish you adieu that I could never say farewell to a love so true.

This a Poem of Recovery and the joy within you is also in the poem. Your language has an urgency about it which made me read it the first time very quickly. I think I wanted to reach the ending and know that the whole experience was fulfilling. The second time I read it out loud which slowed down my pace and I could feel better the crescendo of emotion which crests at the end of the poem when you give us a double experience of love, both in the anticipation of it and in the experience of it. At the very end of the poem the speaker is fully ready for the transformation love causes. What a blessed condition to be in, like Keats's lovers on the Grecian Urn, MORE HAPPY LOVE! MORE HAPPY, HAPPY LOVE! / FOREVER WARM AND STILL TO BE ENJOY'D.

I am thoroughly dazzled by your comment, Daniel. You went to the effort of reading this twice and not only that but reading it aloud! That is love of poetry beyond the call of duty, sir! ! ! So I reread it too and sometimes heard a rhythm to it that was enjoyable and sometimes I heard a clanker of a note off-key. Thank you for politely not pointing out the ungrammatical you and I instead of you and me. I have to say though that on third and fourth rereadings I liked the poetic crispness of you and I rather than the dull humdrum of you and me. ;) Thank you for taking such time and pains with this. [To be truthful, I am much much fonder of my Girl In Waiting. If poems were children, I would be an awful Mother because I do have my fierce favorites! ! ! ]

Hi Susan, Loved reading this poem. Heart broken by separation or denial of love gets mended at the slightest gesture from your loved one. But the longing continues: I'd give my kingdom for you if it would engage one more lover's sigh on our journal's page Or one more night with you it would presage. And the wait goes on: In the meantime I lie here alight at midnight, my heart and my eyes waiting ever bright. with hope. Great poem.10++ Would love to read again.. Shall come back....

Theo! ! ! I lost internet connection for a month and such an unhappy person as I was would be hard to find. I came back to find navigating PH was like a trudge through a muddy bog that occasionally let me post something... very occasionally. Today is a bit better so I am commenting and reading like a fiend! ! ! Thank you for finding and reading and commenting and cheering my dreary soul!

So full of hope. A very bright sunny write exuding warmth that flows straight to the reader's heart. The romance n love are so beautifully presented. A heart-touching expression. True love, genuine feelings are the gifts of life that can make life bright n shining. A classy romantic work.10

Oh, dear, PH is sludging up again. Managed to make 2 replies and 2 comments in 50 minutes. So this may be the last communique today. Thank you for your favorable comment on my poem... unfortunately The Anonymous Jerk didn't like it or the poem and is running amuck sprinkling his dislikes everywhere. I'm glad it touched a romantic chord with you- -it has me a little puzzled. Sometimes editing a poem takes its liveliness away and I was feeling that it had done so here. Thank you for letting me see it in a different light. You are a very kind person and I think romance dances in your soul!

Thank you, Bill. And thank you for pointing out the phrases you particularly liked- -these two were favorites of mine too! Am having trouble commenting and going to other writers' poems to read them. For example, it just took me 6 minutes to type in this comment so far and this is a good day... moment. If it allows me to post it. Will try to go read one of yours- -good luck to me....
