My Friend's Last Breath Poem by Robert Peacock

My Friend's Last Breath

The last time I saw you
Both of us knew
The fun and love we had
Was soon to be through

Our time had ticked out
There was no turning back
Fate had dealt her cruel hand
And faired us no slack

Then you died in my arms
I saw life exiting your eyes
You took your last breath
And you let out two sighs

As I felt the air blow by
There was a familiar Chi
And once it faded, I realized
You had gotten it from me

I pray good dogs go to heaven
For their love and care
Because I know if they do
You'll be waiting for me there
