My Fledglings Have Flown Poem by Royston Nella

My Fledglings Have Flown

Many tears I shed as I watched them grow
knowing that one day I'd have to let the go
As they grew up so independent and free.
But they will always be a part of me.

Like little chicks gathered under my wing
as together we used to dance and sing.
It was such fun encouraging them to grow
but the sad day came when they had to go.

My nest is empty. My fledglings have flown
and now I am left here all on my own.
They have grown up independent and free
but I know they'll always come back to me.
