I wonder sometimes what the benefit of formulaic writing is? Like haikus. There can't be anything inherently beautiful about 5,7,5 syllables? Maybe it's the repetition of the same structure which we associate with good poems and then we read any poem with that structure and it all of a sudden is more pleasant simply because of the familiarity. This is a little beside the point of the poem I'm sure. I'm sorry for your loss.
It is touching, and what is it like to lose a parent, those who have not will have no idea.
