My enemy, My mirror, and me
Today I accidentally saw
in the instant camera picture
my face, my neck and all.
The first in five years time
I allowed Satan's dirty trick
to grab me by my ankles,
and shake me to my senses.
Could I do this? Should I do this?
Would I do this? Will I do this?
'I would be true, for there are those who trust me; ' *
I must be honest, for there is one who loves me true.
It would kill my heart, my very soul
to see you stay for kindness sake.
Time has made a hag of me
and deluded my perception of myself.
No pictures will there exist
to prove me wrong, for I cannot change
into the girl you once held beautiful.
The poisons did their job and more
to cast me as Medusa in
a not so Greek tragedy.
For love you for all time is now
my prison and your release.
