My Dream Poem by Katrina Lusk

My Dream

I had a dream last night.
Instead of yellow, I was dressed in all white.
What I saw was quite vivid, I wish I could have lived it.
The day a little girl grows up to see.
As the church bells ring,
I realize this is my fairytale ending.
Or should I say my very own wedding.
I don't know who my prince charming is,
or what he is even wearing.
Daddy is wearing a white tuxedo,
with his tie in the color blue.
I hope I don't have to do the Doe-C-Doe,
since he has already put the penny in my shoe.
I grab his arm ready to walk down the aisle.
The flower girls walk down the middle.
As I step through the door,
my breath is taken aback at the very sight of your smile.
I thought I lost you forever...
As Daddy steps closer I am awaken from this beautiful dream.
The sound of trucks passing by the window,
reminds me that you left my side.
I'm jerked back into reality.
If only I'd have thought about you,
instead of the happiness of me.
I closed my eyes hoping to see you again,
but you were no longer there.
Sometimes life seems so unfair.
