A friend is someone who knows me well
Who brings me back from my own hell
Who makes me smile when I am down
And takes away the worry frown
Who makes me strong when I am weak
Giving the help and kindness I seek
Always there in times of need
Willing me to succeed
Someone in whom I can confide
Standing always by my side
A shoulder to cry on, a laughing face
In good times and bad a fond embrace
Never telling me what to do
But gently persuasive to follow through
This is a Friend wise and true
A person whom I will always value
