My Daughter Poem by Lesa MRK

My Daughter

Rating: 5.0

There was a little child-
With eyes so young and blue.
Now she's all grown up-
That child was you.
Once you were just little-
With curls so blond and gay.
Now your hair has darkened-
The curls have gone away.
You no longer wear red bows,
To brighten up your hair.
Those dark, little freckles.
Were on your face so fair.
But the freckles are all gone,
When you wear your make-up now.
You cover them with base,
And darken up your brow.
Today I saw you walkiing,
With the fellow down the street.
Someday you'll be leaving here,
With a gentleman you'll meet.
I'll miss you everyday-
With an aching heart I'll see,
My little girl in the adult body,
Smile as she waves at me.

If there is a man among us who loves his daughters then my hand will be stetched high, I have this all yet to come and I know that it will hurt me very much to see them leave the nest, The door will stay open as will the heart, I did not bring them into the world so that they had to fight for breath and bread alone, they have and always will mean everything to me This poem is a beautiful expression of a Mother's care for her young So close, So close Love duncan X
