My Companion Poem by Felix Otiende

My Companion

My Companion
I wasted a lot of time chasing after the wind
I picked a lot stones yet my gold was right in my sight
Today I praise you Akinyi Nya Karateng'
The joy in my heart is infinite

Do you remember how it all started!
Yes! I fell in love the first time we met
From 'Hi' in the morning to friends
Nya Kisumo, I will always honor you and respect you

Honor my mum, she is the secret and reason for my glowing
I promise to respect my in-laws
Am blessed to have you in life
I can't ask more from God than 'Thank you Lord'

Pledge to stay by side when misfortunes knock
Will you wash me when bedridden?
I want you to leave a legacy at my father's house
I believe and have seen it, I won't be buried as unfruitful man

I pledge to be a husband you wished for
I can't promise smooth and perfect relationship, but my best efforts
I am ready to take a bullet for you
I want to be a pillar so strong like Jericho's wall.

I won't let you fall, I will always stand firm in your path to hold you
