the originality here makes one realize that it's a true depiction of your mother I do agree with Ravi - his suggestion would bring an improvement, but if you leave it stand as is it's still a decent piece

The way to a mans heart is through his stomach, so your mother was a wise lady.

The first stanza stands out from the rest. Can you please improvise 'the stomach was more than the head'? There is a stone bite in that line. The expression is incomplete. Perhaps you are pointing out to the fact that she was a practical woman, down to earth, more than an intellect. Let us take the expression to a more graceful levels. Thanks.

DEAR SAMAYANYAN, THIS IS A GOOD TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS OF THE YESTER -YEARS WHO USUALLY WERE MORE INTERESTED AND BUSY ABOUT FEEDING THEIR CHILDREN THAN THE MODERN DAY MOTHERS WHO HAVE TO LOOK AFTER FAMILY AS WELL AS JOBS. STILL MY PERSONAL SUGGESTION IS TO CHANGE A SINGLE WORD'BLUNTNESS' TO 'SHYNESS' WHICH MAY BE MORE ADORABLE AND ACCEPTABLE WHEN WE TALK OF OUR MOTHER. OVERALL IT'S A GOOD POEM - A-10- FROM ME -RAJKUMAR

I like this kind and honest write about your 'Amma' - it is true mothers of her generation paid so much attention to being hospitable with such simplicity - something we truly miss today...10++

your mother had innate intelligence, thus endeared herself to you. poetry cannot be written on empty stomach, so she had her priorities right. i always tell my son, when he is troubled to eat well to clear those cobwebs. a fine tribute to a wise, honest, simple mother. she learnt from life...10 mamta
