The photograph of the mountain ash tree is so wonderful! The way the tree fills the screen with its abundant growth is breath taking - it is so healthy and vibrant! And your poem taps into a spiritual current and follows it with absolute confidence. I read it several times and I felt that occult energy without being able to say precisely what it is. But that's the whole point of your mystical identification with the tree and the larger reality behind it. We don't know what we experience; we surrender to an alchemy which is constantly transforming itself and us.
That tree's name is Pihlaja, in Finland...A friend of mine told me years ago that this giving tree exists also in Canada and it is called Mountain Ash. We call it The Giving Tree because its red berries endure the Winter up to late February, being food for the birds. This poem is an Acrostic, dedicated to my friend, The Giver, on his birthday. Thank you, Daniel, for loving my Tree!
