Mother's Lament Poem by Candice Padden

Mother's Lament

I shall wait, if that's what I must do.
Like summers grass waiting for morning dew.
Like the stilettoed foot needing a comfortable shoe.
Like a farmer yearning for his dinnertime stew.
Like a sunken ship desperate for a sea rescue.
Like a mother who cannot live without you.
Like a mother who cannot live without you.
