Being the mother of two sons, I wholeheartedly identify with this writing. Yes, we try to instill into our sons the preciousness of life, and to respect life, and then society forces them into a situation that is beyond their control - war. It is too sad and too ludicrous to contemplate. Not only are they put into harm's way, they are asked to disregard their innate beliefs and become killers of their fellow man. Thank you for this poem, which addresses that bond between mothers and sons so touchingly and so effectively. Linda
