Motherbird Poem by Kelly Boutin

Motherbird

Baby Bird to Motherbird
Send a message to your world
Let me grow up safe and sound
Build my nest up off the ground

Keep my fingers from the cold
In your feathers I'll stay warm
All the fears that you knew
Don't let me ever have to fear

All the skies that you flew
Don't let me ever have to know
All the storms you've been through
Help me to fly around

Baby Bird to Motherbird
Is it safe to be out there?

Build my house up high and dry
Let me bask in the golden rays of life
What have you learned from all the tears
That you keep from my eyes?

Baby Bird, your mountain top
Is almost ready now
I have packed down all the frost
That fell from the clouds

Sleep now, little Baby Bird
Until you are ready to sing
And I will weatherproof your home
And build you a dream
