Mother ~ Born Long Ago In November Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Mother ~ Born Long Ago In November

Dear mother ~ how I loved her.
She was gentle as she was wise.
Mother could always read so well
The sob-story between the lines.

My mother was fair and she was kind.
Sweet as a woman could be.
For she alone, would know at once
If someone was hurting me.

And if the big wide world outside
Was too intricate for me to bear,
Mother would always come around
With a measure of gold to share.

She was the 'wonder of it all'
I just adored her hair so grey
And even now I feel her gentleness
Wiping my teardrops away.
