Most Things We Find That Are Empty Poem by Gary James Smith

Most Things We Find That Are Empty

Most Things We Find That Are Empty

Most things we find that are empty
With a facial expression of gloom
We wish that there was still some left
To relieve us of impending doom
The cookie in the cookie jar
The last piece of pizza too
Many things in our daily lives
Bring disappointment into view

Make inspection on your direction
Are you getting nearer to God
Or are you still drawn by the things of the world
Which are running over you roughshod
How long you've left off contemplating
O soul where are you destined too
Now's the time in decisions valley
To pray your way on through

He conquered death so resolutely
In that He rose again
And offers life so absolutely
When we are born again
And raises still a Hallelujah
At the mention of His name
And holy, holy, holy, holy
Still gladdened saved sinner's proclaim!

Praise God for that blessed emptiness
The emptiness of the tomb
For the One who offers everlasting life
Came forth from a virgin womb
And sins blest Conqueror redeems
He is Salvation's story
Come lost soul be saved today
Repent and acknowledge His glory!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
