The poem has two parts.While reading the first part gave me the impression of a pure love poem.The poem is totally different in its second part- -Perhaps it is all consuming greed that destroys the beauty of earth.or any relationship.

Every time I read Atwood I'm reminded what an I am. This women masters language and expression like a captain of galleon. Here she seems to explore the complex dynamics of interpersonal relationships, in the end love is as about as rational as a dog with a bone.
I would not consume you or ever finish, you would still be there surrounding me, complete as the air......touching expression with lofty theme. Beautiful popem.
