Moral - Malaise - Of - Modernity Poem by Dr. Antony Theodore

Moral - Malaise - Of - Modernity

Philosophy does its
best work in the gap
between the ‘is' and
the ‘ought-to-be.'

In a very real sense,
in the age of capitalist
modernity, ‘no lives matter.'

The radical point
is that "all lives
ought to matter".

And that calls
upon us to
analyse and
understand
the forces
that stand in
the way of such
a basic proposition.

The moral malaise
of modernity needs
to be related to
the process in
which social
relationships
become abstract,
and impersonal.
