Moonchild Poem by Muktika Poddar

Moonchild

Rating: 5.0

In the darkness of night, a gleaming beam peeks,
Through the window pane, illuminating her unique seek.
From the universe's vastness, she taps her might,
Drawing creativity, manifesting a glowing light.

Gratitude and humility bloom in every chore,
As new skills and experiences silence emotional roar.
A storm of dependence subsides; solitude remains,
Yet loneliness fades, replaced by fulfilling gains.

The traveler journeys to the womanhood's gate,
Tardy and wary, confused in her state.
Scars are the prize; trust in your fate-
Self-reliance will reign, an ultimate respectful create.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

3) Of course at home, boys need to be "taught" to respect girls as equal individuals. But, as long as the society around him thinks differently, he is bound to adopt this attitude which is ‘beneficial' to him.

It's a long journey, with lots of battle scars and this poem outlines that at the end of the road, you might not win anything other than self respect for yourself which is the point of the battle in the first place

2) Women need to confront the patriarchy and chauvinism squarely by building their life independent of men. It is equally important to inculcate such good character and attitude in every child, especially the girls. Of course

Good! Self reliance creates self respect. It still is a man's world. Men who look down upon women abound, who see them as just bodies. This attitude needs to change. I think, the change has to come from women, building self reliance.
