Moon Poem
by Michael R. Burch
after Linda Gregg
I climb the mountain
to inquire of the moon...
the advantages of loftiness, absence, distance.
Is it true that it feels no pain,
or will she contradict me?
We have all seen cartoons about a younger person climbing a mountain to seek wisdom from a grizzled guru or sage. In this poem the ancient moon, which has witnessed the evolution of life on earth, is the guru.
