Moments Of Love Or Immortality Poem by Diwakar Bhatt

Moments Of Love Or Immortality

I was fast asleep like a baby
In the early hour of dawn, god visited in my dream
Whatsoever the reason maybe
But thrilled by his impeccable personality and gleam.

He simply raised his hand in benign
Gesture before speaking in voice laced with tranquility
And sublime smile like a sunshine
Asked to choose either moments of love or immortality.

Quite difficult was the question, put
By the mighty Lord, even quick witted minds would baffle
In such times, by the feeling of gut
Blurted out words, a few moments of love than to be immortal.

But the matter didn’t end here, again
Resonant voice enquired, why love so momentous than life,
To be a god is different than a swain
How could He feel the fire of love, free from emotional strife.

By the time I gathered myself up and
Replied, recollecting all my philosophy, past experience any
In the name of love, supporting my stand
Before the all knowing, all pervading, a never again testimony.

What I said still remember verbatim
That, love and being loved even for moments brings a bliss
Ultimate, love is final not interim
To reconcile later, no use of a long life without a lover’s kiss.

God smiled again, spoke in a soft
Parlance, that a true worshiper of love means a true disciple
Of His, same thing mentor taught
Long back, God bestowed me with love and immortality as well.

God disappeared in a jiffy
To my bewilderment, happy I was in receiving His munificent
Gifts, opened my eyes puffy
A bit, as booze in Saturday night party was more than sufficient.
