Modern Acquiescence Poem by DM W

Modern Acquiescence

Rating: 5.0

These comedians are mere court jesters!
These so called journalists are more like hacks!
Meanwhile truth and democracy fester.
It seems to me that this servile age lacks,
Acute perception and subversive acts.
Too many clowns prop up the status quo.
Meanwhile cads and philistines hunt in packs.
No- one seems to bask in poetry's glow.
No - one seems to ponder more profound things.
Who will weave delicate webs of beauty?
Who will compose new hymns that truly sing?
When will the scales fall from our eyes so we
Can see beyond these veils of illusion?
O will we remain mired in confusion? !

A nicely well written and presented modern poem Dominic and you mention confusion. Well. I guess sometimes that Planet Earth can sometimes be a ball of confusion too and more than often some but not all who inhabit or maybe infest it can be too. 'No-one seems to bask in poetry's glow.' Well chosen, written and sadly true words. This world needs more thinkers not gizmo's. Five food for thought stars and thanks for sharing my friend. Take care.
