Missed Poem by Heidi K. Haskell

Missed

Whaddaya know?
Today I slept late!
While flipping the pancakes,
I just missed the plate.
While cleaning it up, I
Missed the bus to school.
While walking I missed
Saying the Golden Rule!
While I got there I'd missed
Science and reading;
Finding out the homework
Was awful impeding.
Whaddya know?
While asleep in the hall,
I didn't quite catch
That we had basketball.
I slept right through recess,
I slept right through gym.
No word from my teach -
Ha! No thanks to him!
When I went to practice,
I found them in play!
It was just my luck
To sleep late today!

[another blast from the past - I was not quite 13 when this was written.]
