I hear a lot of verbiage,
But no thorough analysis.
I hear a lot of myths,
That are never deconstructed.
I hear a lot about freedom,
But I'm not certain what that means.
I hear a lot about 'nasty' foreigners,
But most of my friends are global.
I hear a lot about heroes and villains,
But surely life isn't that black and white.
On mainstream media it seems that
Emotionally potent oversimplifications are rife.
I see a lot of keen presenters,
But most are empty suits.
I note a lot of convenient omissions,
As well as obvious editing.
I sense the cold finger of real power
Pointing out orders behind the screen.
I guess that's what they call 'The News'.
I read a lot of books and articles,
I like to do my research.
I rarely read newspapers.
I see straight through propaganda and lies.
Perhaps, that's why I despise the media!

The news will always be there and Channel 4 for me seems to be the best as regards to being impartial and soberly balanced in its presentation. However some others contain real whack jobs and would fit in well at a Nuremberg Rally. Five worthy stars Dominic and I see what you see and there is too much of it that gets away with it and seldom held accountable. Many thanks and take care.

Thanks Shaun...I'm constantly deconstructing media and obviously ' the News' is very much a construct rather than objective truth. That's why I like alternative media which is increasingly becoming more popular. I highly recommend Democracy Now! presented by Amy Goodman...very progressive and edifying. The interviews on this particular programme are very thorough and the guests are highly articulate. I truly believe in a plurality of different media.
