Misguided Society Poem by Theresa Peters

Misguided Society

When did we get here?
As a society
Have we lost our humanity?
The very essence of our individuality
Ironically
A shared collectivity
Senselessly
Participating in
Schadenfreude
Glorifying
The death of another
It is Disheartening
How can we become
Desensitized to violence?
Unmoved
By the public act of
Annihilation
To find humor
Is an outright
Abomination
It begs the question
What really is left of this
generation?
Freedom of speech or
Freedom to kill
Mankind's perpetual abuse
of Free will.
