Mine's A Pint Poem by tim woodhouse

Mine's A Pint

Rating: 4.8

If God exists then why do we have wars?
Why do we hold grudges, settle scores?
Why do little children have leukaemia
And why do folk grow old and become feebler?

Is it all a complicated joke?
Is it all a laugh at our expense?
Or is it all a test for simple folk
And at the end a glorious recompense?

Whichever way it is I can't be sure,
I hope some simple faith might still endure
And lead me forth to Heaven's door and table
And have a beer with God if I am able.

This is one of my religious poems where I wonder if God exists.
I have all the questions but no definite answer!
