As you descend the escalator
and arrive on the platform,
A voice is heard saying:
'Mind the Gap! '
Watch your step!
Mind how you go!
Be aware of your surroundings -
Not focussed on your phone!
What are the 'gaps',
In life, that might trip us up?
What are places where we should be on guard?
What are the emotional and spiritual 'gaps' -
That send us sprawling
Knocking the wind from our sails?
Wish we could live some charmed existence -
Where we never put a foot wrong
But the truth is,
We all bite the dust sometimes,
Or kiss the concrete floor!
It's not a matter of if, but when
We take those occasional tumbles -
We take a moment to catch our breath
And then slowly rise to our feet!
It's the wobbles and the troubles
That teach us the best
That build in us resilience,
And determination to keep going to the end!
The end!
