Midnight Wish Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

Midnight Wish

The day has gone,
The twinkle night rob the day with softened romance,
Midnight falls and stars twinkle bright,
I make a wish upon the crescent moon.

My heart beats fast as I close my eyes tight,
Hoping my wish will come true real soon,
With a silent plea, I whisper my desire
To the mysterious powers of the night.

In this moment, my heart feels like a fire,
Burning with hope and a sense of delight;
I wish for love to find its way to me,
A love that's pure, passionate and true.

Someone who'll cherish and set my heart free,
With whom I'll share a love that'll never be through;
The clock strikes twelve, my wish has been made
Now I must trust and let fate guide my love's fate.

As the night fades and dawn starts to break,
I hold on to my wish with all my might,
For I know that every wish we make
Has the power to turn darkness into light.

So I'll keep believing, as days go by
That my midnight wish will someday come nigh,
In the wake of the day.
