Mid-Spring At Annville Paradise Poem by NHIEN NGUYEN MD

for Kim Mai's birthday

Green grass spreads a carpet of spring green.
Spring grass is very green, and everywhere is green grass.
A vast field is covered with young green wheat blades.
Filled with life force, the earth is welcoming spring.
My yard is filled with spring flower Daffodils.
Their green leaves intertwine with white and yellow flowers.
These flowers usually bloom in the middle of spring
along our horse neck driveway and in our front and back yards
These flowers have been in bloom one week already.
I don't see butterflies but a lot of bees.
Tulip flowers bloom earlier this year;
so, one thousand tulips are now blooming around my Koi pond.
Hearing my approaching footsteps, Koi fish get excited.
They splash water vigorously as they swim fast.
Expecting food, they swim after each other in circles.
Asian pear trees just start to open their flower buds,
but in few days, their full blossoms will smile to spring breeze.
Maple blossoms just finished dropping their petals.
A weeping cherry tree flows long twigs like hair strands.
Dogwood flower buds are still dormant.
Peach blossoms open their smiles to welcome golden sunshine.
Some birds sing their melodious songs from a yard tree;
other birds hop on lawn, searching for their breakfast.
Under the blue sky, gentle breeze and floating clouds
birds collect hay to build nests, dream of raising their chicks.

BÂY GIỜ LÀ GIỮA MÙA XUÂN

Tặng sinh nhật Kim Mai

Cỏ xanh trải thảm mùa xuân
Cỏ xanh xanh lắm, chỗ nào cũng xanh.
Đồng xanh lá mạ đầu mùa
Bừng bừng sức sống, đất chào mừng xuân.
Vườn tôi đầy những hoa xuân
Lá xanh, hoa trắng, hoa vàng chen nhau*
Hoa này nở giữa mùa xuân
Bên đường-cổ-ngựa, sân nhà trước sau.
Hoa này nở đã một tuần
Mùa này không bướm, nhưng mà nhiều ong.
Năm nay Tulip sớm hơn
Ngàn Tulip đỏ ôm hồ cá Koi.
Hồ Koi, thác nước buông trôi
Nghe người bước tới, cá Koi chào mừng.
Vẫy nhiều, bọt nước bắn tung
Chờ ăn, đàn cá bơi vòng nối đuôi.
Lê tàu, nụ mới hé môi
Chỉ vài ngày nữa hoa cười gió xuân.
Cây Phong hoa mới vừa tàn
Cành buông mái tóc, Anh-đào nở hoa.
Dogwood nụ vẫn ngủ say
Nụ Đào hé mở, nắng vàng xôn xao.
Chim vui, chim hót trên cành
Trên sân chim nhảy, mừng ngày, kiếm ăn.
Trời xanh, gió thoảng, mây bay
Chim tha cọng rác, mơ ngày nuôi con.
