Met a Man Who Worked at 7-Eleven For 31 Years...
This one is for you, kind Sir...
I met a man who worked,
At 7-Eleven for 31 years, last night
And when I asked him why?
He told me it was one of the only jobs
He could do, in coming to Canada
Years ago now...
His eyes were kind, and shrewd.
His speech was slow but not rude.
He told me, he needed the money,
So, this job on the night shift soon
Became his source of income
And refuge...
But I have to ask, did he ever want more?
I mean, Canada is the land of opportunity
So, why settle for comfort in the darkness?
And grow like people do not want you now
To work with them in the sunny daylight?
But he seemed content...
So, under the dark side of the moon,
In a valley so full of nightowls too,
There is a good man serving kids
And people of all ages a blessing
Of wisdom, on what can happen
To you or anyone else too...
When 'Life' catches up with you.
