Messages Poem by Angela Bontle Ditumiso

Messages

I'm out window shopping
Feasting my eyes on things
I wish I'd buy if I had the money

A stranger approaches as I try to
Disappear into next aisle
I make a way for him to pass
But he halts to a stop
To greet me and tell me I'm beautiful

I'm beautiful
I never expected anybody to tell me that
Let alone a stranger
And for some odd reason
It's the something I've been yearning to hear

I later head home smiling
Feeling beautiful
Then I get to this thinking
This is what life is about
Making a difference in people's lives
Motivating people around us
Giving them hope and a smile

I'm thinking
We are all messages to others
Our minds are full of letters
We should send out
For as long as we're alive
That's what we should do

A little kind deed
Can make a huge impact
Don't hold on to the good in you
Let it overflow
Let it show
