Mermaids Race Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Mermaids Race

Rating: 5.0

A dip in the sunlight's approval and the resulting dark spot obligates Medusa
Stone still pattern subjugates eddies and currents but in seconds oceans resist
Dolphin lyrical charge led to blunt the deluge

In beauty's waterlogged sight, they swim as one and break the surface to amuse ancient sailors
Flat earth diagrams with warnings in the form of hideous sea beasts tell of unknown borders
But outside of museums what we know and see is blue eternal cascade met

For heartbeat met in the clearest pleasure - race you to the other side of the pier
Through mermaid seaweed jungle, fall in love during the expedition or not
Mermaids chase one another and amuse only one another now that word of mouth has been replaced by permanent documentation

When I was a boy, I wanted to be a marine biologist
Gave up on that dream when I found I wasn't any good at mathematics
Tried to sight mermaids with an interest in rock and roll and literature
But the mermaids I met in real life were far too real and far less friendly

When I was a boy, I wanted to be a marine biologist Gave up on that dream when I found I wasn't any good at mathematics Tried to sight mermaids with an interest in rock and roll and literature But the mermaids I met in real life were far too real and far less friendly Life is always different to the dreams but love brings it closer to the dreams. Lovely poem by Raj.
