We start to feel the presence of this person, and then there is a picture of shoes, making it more about his shoes, like his shoes' problems displaced his own. Compelling poetry.
family was everything for him but his vices were special to him ....but he never bought new shoes.... //.... Because it would find him way back home. A poetic essay about an old man who is so down to earth, loves his family, has some weaknesses and goes by his beliefs. Thanks. he believed old shoes brought in luck
So touching! To me, more than superstitions, it is the memory of his mother which stopped him from discarding the worn-out shoes with a hole. she had told him: it would help him find his way home even if it was night, even if it was cold; Beautiful words! Congratulations, Dear Poet! You have been successful in expressing the affection of a mother worried for the safety of her child.
Sometimes superstition plays a great part in our lives. Men do weird things believing in superstitions. Even learned men are superstitious too. Very nice write. 'And though he understood that a hole in the shoe was a time when he needed to buy new shoes, he enjoyed his own ruse.'... is so nice. Congrats.
never saw my father, his shoes might have been like this, better or worse, any way they are responsible for the families, congratulations for this nice poem. Being selected as the poem of the day.
In this poem a story regarding shoes given by a mother based on superstition and memories has been hauntingly delineated.I quote...that the old pair of shoes / brought him not only luck / but also helped him put / bad memories under his feet. Beautiful poem. Thanks and congratulation for being selected this poem as the member poem of POD.
The affinity with old shoes with a hole in one storing bad memories beautifully narrated. Well deserved poem of the day. Congrats.
An interesting write- - Yes, superstitions are there among many people, some are deep rooted and some are light- - Like some people think a particular colour or a particular shirt bring good luck and they prefer wearing that one on important days.. This gentleman's shoes were gifted by his mother and they were associated with his golden days.He knew it was time to discard them, but he did not discard because they were synonymous with his good days.
This poem is about being superstitious. If shoes become old and torn, buy new shoes. His life is already a mess, being addicted to gambling, excellent poem to show that he put his bad memories under his shoes and how a rich person can become very poor. CONGRATULATIONS for being chosen as The Member Poem Of The Day.
His old shoes! ! ! Memories of his life on earth. Thanks for sharing this poem with us.
it's really a good poem within good fact// congrats 10+ Old is Gold! but not on every aspect of life! yeah, sometimes the old may cause to turn the luck, may change the luck, may bring the luck with happiness but it's our superstitious obsession; yeah, the actual fact is trying, trying with technically.......///
