Tinkling laughter echoed there
Dripping teardrops glittered there
Our memory lane got cluttered thus
With entangling glee and glumness both.

Hi Ms Menon, Sorry for addressing you thus. This poem of yours, I loved reading. Immensely emotional poem. they could turn as a curse also! Who they are..friends or foes? I could not determine it yet! Beautiful lines. As Tagore wrote, That words have meaning is just the difficulty. That is why poet has to twist and turn them in meter and verse so that meaning is contained to some extent and emotions are allowed a free flow. Your lines carry the emotions forward, so that words tend to vanish. This is the real poetry indicated by Tagore. Good.10. I have poem by name Ormmakall. This one appears in my book of poems named, Ozhinja Kootukal, published by Green books, Thrissur. The book is available on Amazon too. I invite you to read the poem. I have to admit that it has a different take on the memories.

With entangling glee and glumness both. leading us to the dazzling courtyard of paradise.Long and short ripples they made in the tranquil mind of mine frequently.I closed my memory screen in haste And put one shutter abruptly and escaped from them for a while.. Will win or lose no one knows The end of game left in dark. i just tried to write down your own words from your poem which struck me as i read it. it is always pleasant to read you Mallika. They are truths of life that come from your heart. love it very much. tony

Can appreciate the poet's dilemma - whether memories are a boon or curse. Well written.

A pathway she selected for a walking through the past memories made this poem so interesting. A clear introspection of sweet memories, the sad ones and what require for a human is to maintain the equanimity to both good or bad and sweet or sore which might the results.

A journey down memory lane is always a mixture of nostalgia and resentment. It's a lovely narrative poem, well articulated and nicely penned. Thanks for sharing and remain blessed.

Your poem about memories illustrates what we have been saying about our e-book, that is, it show our similarities as people and poets despite living in seven different corners of the planet. I pictured my own experiences with each line of your poem, in particular your theme that good and bad memories crowd together and we cannot pick and choose them; we can't have just good ones - human life is a mingling of the dark and light (that's a quote from one of Abby's writings!) . Often memory poems favor the good memories and ignore the bad, or a memory poem gets tangled only with the bad stuff. You, however, have given us a complete and honest view of both memories, and the ending of the poem is very dramatic. I had a very sheltered and happy childhood, and I can hardly remember anything, but when adolescence hit with full force - that I remember! I'm not sure I want to go back there. What do you think of adolescence? ?
