White clouds in a sunny breezy blue sky day
Calm translucent ocean below
Fog bank sits it out on the far horizon
Mottled green and yellow hills protect the bay
Long piers stretch out from shore
Drums and rock music
Blow by from time to time on the wind
Couples like us stroll
Families gather, sass, and play
Old veterans over coffee
Talk about everything
But not about what changed them
Fundamentally
Forever
So long ago and so very far away
