Medical Tourism Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

Medical Tourism

Rating: 5.0

Again and again and again
He leaves for another president's land
To seek a cure for an ailment
Jealously concealed from those who should know

What happens to equipping hospitals here?
Ant the qualified medical personnel
What happened to the pre-election promises
Of no more medical jamboree overseas

Never trust a man with many promises
Who can not remember his last promise
Never hold unto the promises of a politician
Eager to secure your vote

The hospitals are desolate
Drugs are out of stuck
The bills too high for the masses
The medical personnel migrating in droves
The people are dying from curable diseases
Yet they do not care who should care.

The present leadership in Nigeria promised to equip our hospitals to international standard and banish medical treatment overseas. Today nothing has been done and the leaders are now the ones embarking on medical tourism.
