Medical Poems: Pilocarpine Poem by Nyx C Styx

Medical Poems: Pilocarpine

On Cholinomimetic Alkaloid Pilocarpine
from P.Jaborandi, a tertiary amine
not metabolized by AChE, so its duration is long
if you thought it's reversed by atropine, you thought wrong
it's actions are muscarnic and not nicotinic
on eye and glands, its action is specific
We use it when the mouth is dry
to treat glaucoma, it'll make you cry
when lens and iris stick, or when need hair to grow
for Pilocarpine that's all you need to know

I never knew a whimsical poem could be created out of technical, latinate medical/medicinal jargon. I guess I learned something new today. Good job.
