a poem that is very well written about a subject generally not thought of as being a luxury? .......well penned.
Thank you so much for your appreciative note, Tom, on this poem (Meaning Of Luxury) .
the call of nature should be answered freely and comfortably which gives relief! It is not a luxury- thanks for sharing such a social subject
Luxury is a comparative term. For a poor nation even an air conditioner is a luxury but it's a necessity for a rich nation. Meaning of luxury nicely explained by the poet.
Thanks a lot for your analytical comments on the subject of what luxury means to people in rich and poor countries. Thanks a lot, Akhtar Jawad Sahab.
rajnish, interesting for me to read this since i was thinking along these lines when driving home from my yoga class today. specifically i was thinking of what are true riches, or, if rich means full, what is it that really makes us experience fullness or contentment. always good to be reminded of our perspectives, about what is truly important. thank you. glen kappy
Thank you, Glen, for so nicely grasping the spirit of the poem and for putting across the message that I wanted to convey. I am glad to know about your yoga practice.
What has been a luxury some years back is now a necessity with us. In the same way what is luxury for the people of developing countries is bare necessity for those of advanced countries. So the concept of luxury and need is so relative! You have expressed it with a striking example!
luxury is what you can not afford you always pray for it to lord sometimes it becomes dream and arrives in home like sun beam
You expressed luxury in crisp and subtle manner! ! It’s not all about necessity it’s more about our priority! We prefer to have more temples in India than toilets When we can’t offer a glass of milk to the child on street We drain them in temples in the name of devotion to the divine But if you say the truth, it will be blasphemy and you’ll be wicked I sometimes think, even the divine might sometimes laugh at our stupidity. Thanks for sharing! It was inciting!
Thanks for your extremely thoughtful and analytical comments on this poem. You are right in saying that 'if you say the truth, it will be blasphemy and you’ll be wicked'. Terrific appraisal of our lopsided religious practices.
everywhere it is the same when we have it we take it for granted when we don't have it then it is a luxury thanks
Very logical analysis. Thanks for visiting the page and leaving a well thought out comment on the poem.
Very wonderful and interesting drafting filled with many information of luxury. This provokes thoughts entirely. Fantastic sharing done really...10
Thanks for visiting the page and for leaving so thoughtful comments.
Very true, some countries are blessed with natural resources which they use judiciously for the benefit of mankind and its people whereas on the other hand some countries although they are blessed yet people are self-centered and selfish.......Basic necessity is must for everyone.
I am obliged for your enlightened thoughts and for appreciating the poem. Thank you, Md. Asim ji.
Lovely life lessons that are both wise and wonderful! Indeed what is luxury for one is simply necessity for another!
Thanks for your kind visit, Howard. Your comments bring out the crux of this poem in simple words.
