Me Tonight Poem by Lynette Lawrence

Me Tonight

Tonight I sit there and find
that my best friend was right when she said 'Run as fast as you can'
I ignored that
People accuse me of loosing my mind
I keep in pretending that I'm fine
even though I know that that's a lie
No matter how I feel I always smile
What I'm doing day after day?
Hiding the world I built on lies!
Shooting stars are the saddest thing down here
right now they are bright and present
in a few seconds dark and absent
Everything I want now is to run faster than the truth
I think 'Your lies don't always catch you'.
