Me And My Inner Child Poem by Andrés Alejandro

Me And My Inner Child

Sometimes, the child we once were is still waiting for the love they never received. But today, as adults, we can embrace them and give them what they always deserved.

This letter is for you,
my beautiful child.

You stayed in bed, crying,
hiding in the shadows,
thinking you weren't loved.

Your parents gave you their best,
even if it wasn't enough,
even if it wasn't fair.

They hurt your little heart,
left a wound
you will always carry.

Today, I am here to speak to you,
to caress you,
to give you the love you were denied.

Today, I am here to hold you,
to tell you
that I have always loved you.

Today, I am here
to find you,
to lift you up,
to give you the love you always deserved.

Today, I am your adult self,
and I have come to embrace you,
to show you how far we've walked,
how much we've grown.

Stop crying now,
we will go all the way together,
like the best of friends.

Today, I am your adult self,
take my hand,
let's explore every healed corner together.

Today, our happiness begins,
laughter and tenderness,
we are one and the same.

Today, I am here,
for you,
I will never leave you alone.

You are the most beautiful company of my life.
