MAUT KA SAUDAGAR
-----------------------------
Alfred sold explosives and thrived
his products killed, families grieved
for him people reserved their ire
to send him to hell, would they hire?
one fine day, tabloid headlines read
' the merchant of death is dead. ' *
Ludvig had died, Alfred's sibling
Alfred was alive and kicking!
Alfred went into depression
' this legacy I have to shun.
for a cause that shall be noble
my wealth shall go for the Nobel '
----

Notes:
* ' Le marchand de la mort est mort ' in French.
That was year 1888.
People celebrated thinking Alfred Nobel had died.
It was a wrong obituary that changed the mind of Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite and holder of innumerable patents on explosives.
He made a huge fortune from his inventions. Decided to donate bulk of it for the Nobel Prize to honor excellence in various fields : physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace and economics.
Alfred Nobel died in 1896. For mathematics, the equivalent prize is the Abel Prize by the Norwegian Foundation. Nobel is Swedish.
